Shavuot – Pentecost

How The Wheat Harvest Reveals Spiritual Life.

Shavuot Pentecost

Shavuot is The 4th of Our Creator’s 7 Sacred Days

From the Festival of Unleavened Bread we count 7 Sabbaths to the Festival of Weeks.  There are 7 weeks between the Sheaf Wave offering of the First-Fruits of the Barley harvest to the First-Fruits of the Wheat Harvest.
Sheaf wave Barley

“You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete Sabbaths.  You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall present a new grain offering to YHVH.”  Leviticus 23:15; Leviticus 23:16.

Shavuot begins its count after the sheaf wave offering, seven Sabbaths/Weeks will always bring us into the third lunar month, in the summer, and the day after the Sabbath will always be a Sunday.

“In the third (lunar) month after the sons of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that very day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.” Exodus 19:1

In the third lunar month Moses was given The Torah, in writing by YHVH, over 3,300 years ago, Exodus 19.

In the third lunar month Y’shua, (The Torah/Word in flesh, John 1-14) sent His promised Spirit, Joel 2:28Matthew 3:11 Mark 1:8Luke 3:16Acts 1:5Acts 2:17.

Shavuot fits 4th and Center on The Lamp stand of God, The Menorah.

The Golden Lamp-stand; Exodus 25:311 Samuel 3:3

Shavuot means “Weeks” in Hebrew

Shavuot is translated the Feast of Weeks, Numbers 28:26 , Oaths, First-fruits Festival of the Wheat Harvest, In-gathering and in English it is known as Pentecost, meaning 50.

“You shall celebrate the Feast of Weeks, that is, the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of In-gathering at the turn of the year.”  Exodus 34:22

Shavuot Connects The Wheat Harvest, Torah and Spiritual Life.

YHVH’s Feast Days reveal the times of His Spiritual fulfillment’s.

Why is Unleavened Bread required at the Spring Barley harvest?  Why two leavened loaves of Wheat bread at Shavuot in the Summer?  Leaven is forbidden in any grain offering except on Shavuot, Leviticus 2:11.

You shall bring in from your dwelling places two loaves of bread for a wave offering, made of two-tenths of an ephah; they shall be of a fine, (sifted), flour, baked with leaven as first fruits to YHVH.”  Leviticus 23:17unleavened-bread-1-cor-5-6-7

Metaphorically Speaking, Y’shua Reveals His Connection.

Y’shua, (Jesus) said, I Am The Bread of LifeJohn 6:48

“I Am the Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will Live forever. And this Bread, which I will give for the Life of the world, is My flesh.” John 6:51

Parables are physical examples of spiritual reality.  The proud heart is blind and deaf in understanding.  Only the humble heart perceives these mysteries.

This is why I speak to themin parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.” Matthew 13:13Deuteronomy 29:4

Salvation is Revealed in YHVH’s Seven Appointed Days

Yehoshua, Yeshua’s full Hebrew Name, means YHVH’s Salvation.  He is the Passover Lamb who takes away the sin of the world, John 1:29.   His sinless, (unleavened) body was Buried the first day (sundown) of the seven days of Unleavened Bread, He Resurrected on the Third day, as The First-Fruits of the Barley sheaf wave offering.

He appeared to over 500 witnesses in His Resurrected body,  1 Corinthians 15:6.

After His suffering, He presented Himself to them with many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a span of forty days and spoke about the Kingdom of God.” Acts 1:3

The Kingdom of God is Not of This World, (it is not physical but Spiritual), John 18:36Romans 14:17

On the fortieth day of the count to Shavuot, Y’shua ascended up to heaven after instructing His followers to wait in Jerusalem for The Promise of His Father, Luke 24:51

(The number of 40 days also has a Spiritual meaning, Exodus 24:18)

And behold, I am sending The Promise of My Father upon you. But remain in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

Ten Days Later, At the Wheat Harvest, His Spirit is Given.

Shavuot is the only time leaven is allowed in a grain offering, two finely sifted loaves of wheat bread are waved as the First-Fruits offering.  The First-Fruits offering is not only an acknowledgement that all sustenance comes form YHVH, it is also the promised blessing on the rest of the harvest.

View Torah through spiritual eyes we perceive mankind’s need to become a new/unleavened/humble batch of dough.  The new dough is leavened with Truth/ Spirit, 1 Corinthians 5:8.

In Y’shua’s Matthew 13:30, He reveals that all mankind is growing together in the field (the world).  At the time of the Spiritual Wheat harvest, (His Second Coming) those who bear the fruit of the wheat berry are called the children of the Kingdom,  Matthew 13:38.  They are gathered into His barn, (His Kingdom).  Everything that remains is like waste material, chaff that is burned away in the fire.

The Wheat Harvest is Plentiful.

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Ask YHVH of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.”  Matthew 9:38

Shavuot, is one of three pilgrimage Festivals when every male of YHVH’s Assembly, (or Body) is instructed to return to Jerusalem, Deuteronomy 16:16.

At the Spring Pilgrimage Festival of Passover/Unleavened Bread, we get rid of the old yeast, (false teachings, hypocrisy, pride…) to become a New batch.

“Get rid of the old yeast, that you may be a New Unleavened batch, as you really are. For Christ,(Messiah) our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.” 1 Corinthians 5:7

The Kingdom of heaven is like yeast added to three measures, (3 saton #4568=9 gallons).

“The Kingdom of heaven is like yeast  that a woman  took and mixed into three measures  of flour until all of it was leavened.” Matthew 13:33

The Bride (The Woman) Has Made Herself Ready

Taking a peek ahead to the book of Revelation we see several clues pointing to the New/Spiritual Jerusalem and metaphors of the woman, the Bride, and the Marriage of the Lamb.

“I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” Revelation 21:2

Let us rejoice and celebrate and give Him the glory. For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready.” Revelation 19:7

Then one of the seven angels with the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” Revelation 21:9

Shavuot reveals our Creator’s salvation plan from the beginning.  Just as Torah was given, in writing, to a “mixed multitude,” Exodus 12:38, it pre-existed before YHVH created the physical nation of Israel.

Israel is descriptive of All His people:  It has a general meaning of one who struggles and perseveres, (sarah #8280) and overcomes/prevails/has power, (yakol #3201), Genesis 32:28Isaiah 14:1Ephesians 2:12

The Bride Has Been Redeemed, Ephesians 2:15

“…and by Your blood You purchased for God those from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.” Revelation 5:9

There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are All One in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28Romans 10:12

I (Y’shua) have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be One as We are One.” John 17:22 Amen

Hidden in Your Secret Place

My First Song

When I close my eyes, it’s then I see.  Just beyond my senses, I’m aware.  Silence calms my heart and mind with Peace.  Breathing in Your presence, and I’m there.

Chorus:  This is the place where I feel safe, keeping very near to You.  My soul is filled with joy and praise, hidden in Your Secret place.

Resting in Your Love, transforming me, more and more like You, I long to be.  Time apart with You, alone in prayer.  Strengthened by Your presence, and I’m there.

Chorus:  This is the place where I feel safe, keeping very near to You.  My soul is filled with joy and praise, hidden in Your Secret place.

No voice no word need to convey, as I wait with You I know.  You’re here in me, You’re everywhere.  Conscious of Your presence and I’m there.

Death, the Last Enemy to Be Destroyed.

Death Does Not Have The Victory

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:55

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law, (the Curse of sin and death)  1 Corinthians 15:56

This 1st Century A.D. quote, from the apostle Paul, is a paraphrase from the prophet Hosea, 722 B.C.

Breaking down the original Hebrew, Hosea’s Words confirm the point Paul is making.

“From the power/the hand, (Yad #3027) of the grave, (Sheol #7585) I will randsom/rescue, (papda #6299) them.  From death, (maveth #4191) I will redeem, (ga’al #1350).  O Death, I will be your thorn/plague, (deber #1698).  O Sheol, I will be your sting/destruction, (qoteb #6987).  Sorrow, (nocham #5164) will be hidden, (sathar #5641) from My sight, (ayin #5869).” Hosea 13:14

YHVH Redeemed Us From Sin/Death.

Psalm 49:15
But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, For He will receive me. Selah.

Isaiah 25:8
He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the LORD (YHVH) has spoken.

Isaiah 26:19
Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits.

“The last enemy to be destroyed is death.” 1 Corinthians 15:26

“And death and hell (sheol) were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” Revelation 20:14

Sin means, to Bare the Blame of guilt, and All die because All are guilty of sinEcclesiastes 7:20Romans 3:23

The Hebrew word Chata #2398, means, to bare the blame.  Sin is simply missing the mark,  the mark being God’s definition of the Way that leads to Life.

Torah is God’s Word, shinning like a Light that leads us on the Path of Life.  To Bare/carry the blame means we have strayed from the path, Genesis 44:32  #5771 Avon=guilt. #5375 Nasa or Nasah=to carry, Genesis 4:13; Exodus 28:38.

He Bore Our Blame

Y’shua, (Jesus) bore/carried our guilt of sin in the death of His body.  All flesh, like Adam’s, must die in order to receive (spiritual/lasting) Life in Righteousness, because Righteousness has always been the Way to Life, Proverbs 12:28

In Adam All Die, in Y’hoshua All Will Be Made Alive! 1 Corinthians 15:22

1 Peter 2 He bore our sin
1 Peter 2:24 is Quoting; Isaiah 53:5; Isaiah 53:6.  The Hebrew word Healed is Rapha #749, meaning repaired, cured, made whole.

Parable of The Dragnet or Fishnet

Parable of The Dragnet

Once again, the Kingdom of the Heavens is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea, gathering fish of every kindWhen it was full, the men pulled it ashore. Then they sat down and sorted the good fish into containers, but threw out the bad.

So will it be at the end of the age: The angels will come and separate the wicked, (the bad), from the righteous, (the good), and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, (very upset and angry)”  Matthew 13:47Matthew 13:48Matthew 13:49Matthew 13:50”

#1.  The Kingdom of Heaven is like a Fishnet.  “figuratively fishing for people,” Luke 5:10

#1.  The Sea is a Hebrew Idiom for Many Peoples/Nations

“Alas, the uproar of many peoples Who roar like the roaring of the seas, And the rumbling of nations Who rush on like the rumbling of mighty waters!” Isaiah 17:12

“Who stills the roaring of the seas, The roaring of their waves, And the tumult of the peoples.” Psalm.” 65:7

“There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among the nations, bewildered by the roaring of the sea and the surging of the waves.” Luke 21:25

“Then the angel said to me, “The waters where you saw the prostitute seated are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.” Revelation 17:15

A word study of Ezekiel 47, compared with Revelation 22 is also very insightful:  note the differences and references of these original Hebrew words:

Water, (mayim #4325) represents the Living Water of Torah

River/brook, (nachal #5158) represents water flowing from the Sanctuary/Throne

Sea, (yam #3220) represents multitudes.

Fish, (dagah #1710) represents the multitude of people in the sea.

#2 Angels Sorting The Good and The Bad Fish at The End of the Age

The Kingdom of Heaven will be known to all at the end of the age also known as Judgement Day.  This is when the chaff is removed from the Wheat and the bad fish are removed from the good fish.   The chaff and the bad fish represent those who do bad.  Everything Bad (Ra #7451) will be cleansed away/purified, like chaff in a fire, like gold refined in a furnace/crucible.

“His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear, (cleanse) His threshing floor and to gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff, (everything bad), with inextinguishable, (asbestos #762) fire.Matthew 3:12

The wicked, (rasha #7563) are not so, but they are like chaff , which the wind drives away,”Psalm 1:4Psalm 35:5;  Psalm 37:38; Isaiah 1:31Isaiah 11:4Isaiah 27:4Isaiah 41:16Isaiah 66:24Jeremiah 7:20Jeremiah 15:7Jeremiah 51:2)…

Let both grow together until the harvest.  At the proper time I will tell the harvesters, “First collect the weeds, (those who do bad) and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat, (those who do good) into my storehouse (Kingdom).” Matthew 13:30

Let’s take a moment to Test What The Hebrew says about “Eternal Hell Fire”

Eternal hell fire does not exist in original Hebrew Scriptures.  This man-made mythology blended itself into early church doctrine.  The Fiery Furnace and Unquenchable Fire are known Hebrew Idioms using the example of fire as purifying, having the ability to completely cleanse away chaff/dross/impurities/everything bad.

For more information click on my link;  Mythology Attached to Hell, under the Category Hell:

“Then Death and Hades (Sheol, the Grave) were thrown into the lake of fire.  The second death is the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:14

“The last enemy to be destroyed, (abolished=katargeo #2673) is death.1 Corinthians 15:26

“Do His People Know The Difference Between Good and Bad?

“Moreover, they shall teach My people the difference between the holy and the profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.” Ezekiel 44:23Ezekiel 22:26Leviticus 10:10

Instructions Defining Clean and Unclean Fish

“Of what ever is in the water, these you may eat: all that have fins and scales, those in the water,in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat.Leviticus 11:9

Clean fish

The Good Fish has fins and scales, equating to Clean, Holy/Set Apart from the bad fish.

Unclean fish

A Bad Fish, one without fins or scales, equals Unclean or Common.

His Set Apart People Only Eat Food that is Set Apart

Jesus/Yehoshua did not come to make Peace with the world but with a Sword, (His Word), Ephesians 6:17Matthew 10:34

His Holy (Set Apart) Word teaches His Holy (Set Apart) people how to distinguish between Good and Bad, Life and Death, Holy and Common, True and the False, 2 Corinthians 6:17; Revelation 18:4.

Do You Understand All These Things?

“Have you understood all these things?” “Yes,” they answered. Then He told them, “For this reason, every scribe, (man of learning) who has been discipled in the Kingdom of Heaven is like the Landowner, (one with authority, oikodespotés #3617) who brings out of his treasure stores things new and old. Matthew 13:51Matthew 13:52

The Old or First is Physical, The New or Renewed is Spiritual

So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being;” the last Adam, (Y’shua) a Life-giving Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 15:45

The spiritual,however,was not first,but the physical,and then the spiritual,” 1 Corinthians 15:46

“and we know that The Torah is Spiritual,”Romans 7:14.

This is the last of Yehoshua’s Kingdom Parables found in Matthew 13.  Each one shining new Spiritual Light on what He established from the beginning. Psalm 19:71 Samuel 15:29

Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done...”Isaiah 46:10

Parable of the Pearl

Parable of the Pearl

Parable of The Pearl

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. When he found one very precious pearl, he went away and sold all he had and bought it.”  Matthew 13:45Matthew 13:46

Corresponding to the previous Parable of The Treasure, the merchant, like the man, seek and find what they are looking for.  It is of such great value, they don’t hesitate to go and sell all they have in order to posses it.

The Pearl Is A Metaphor For Wisdom

“Do not give dogs what is holy; do not throw your pearls before swine. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.” Matthew 7:6

“Do not reprove, (yakach #3198) a scoffer, or he will hate you, Reprove a Wise man and he will love you.” Proverbs 9:8

“Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, For he will despise (maas #3988a) the Wisdom of your words.” Proverbs 23:9

The Incomparable Value of Spiritual Wisdom.

“for Wisdom is more precious than, (Peninim #6443) rubies/pearls, and nothing you desire can compare with her.” Proverbs 8:11

“Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.” Psalm 73:25

More than that, I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus, (Y’shua Messiah) my Lord, (YHVH) for whom I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ/Messiah.”  Philippians 3:8

Wisdom, From The Most Ancient Book of Job:

“But where can Wisdom be found? And where is the place of Understanding? Job 28:12

“Man does not know its value, Nor is it found in the land of the living. Job 28:13

“…And the acquisition of Wisdom is above that of pearls, (Peninim #6443).” Job 28:18

“Where then does Wisdom come from? And where is the place of Understanding? Job 28:20

“And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of YHVH, (He Exists) that is Wisdom; And to depart from evil, (doing bad) is Understanding.'” Job 28:28

The Pearl is Wisdom, Wisdom is Eternal Life, Y’shua is Eternal Life.

All Things Were Created by Wisdom

“YHVH, by Wisdomfounded the earth, By Understanding He established the heavens.” Proverbs 3:19

“O YHVH, how many are Your works!  In Wisdom You have made them all; The earth is full of Your possessions.” Psalm 104:24

All Things Created Through Y’shua (Jesus)

“Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made.”  John 1:3

“For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.”  Colossians 1:16

yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, (Y’shua Messiah) through whom all things came and through whom we exist.” 1 Corinthians 8:6

In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the author/founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.” Hebrews 2:10

And now take a deep breath, and read the next two verses very slowly.  Proverbs 8 and John 1  are referring to both Wisdom and Y’shua in the same way.

“YHVH possessed Me, (Wisdom) at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old.  “From everlasting I was established, From the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.”  Proverbs 8:22Proverbs 8:23

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1.

We Are Instructed to Diligently Seek and Ask For Wisdom

If any of you lacks Wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5

“I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.” Proverbs 2:4Proverbs 8:17

Reverential Fear of YHVH is The Beginning of Wisdom

“The fear of YHVH is the beginning of Wisdom, And Knowledge of the Holy One is Understanding.” Proverbs 9:10

The fear of YHVH is the beginning of Wisdom; A good Understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.” Psalm 111:10

The Holy Scriptures Are Able To Make Us Wise for Salvation

From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you Wise for Salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:15Deuteronomy 4:6

Your Commandments make me Wiser than my enemies, For they are forever mine.” Psalm 119:98

Parable of The Pearl Revealed

In this Parable The Merchant searches and finds the Pearl, representing the Kingdom of Heaven.  We are the Merchant, and all those who seek His Kingdom are promised to find it;

For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:8

Although the religious leaders of Y’shua’s time diligently searched the Scriptures because they knew the Creator’s Wisdom was the Way to eternal Life.  They still couldn’t see or hear spiritually, in order to perceive the Scriptures were speaking about Y’shua as The Spirit of Wisdom/Life.

“You diligently search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about Me,” John 5:39

The Pearl like the Treasure, represents the Eternal Kingdom of Heaven, The Spirit of Wisdom, Y’shua our Creator, they are all One in the same, YHVH, (He Exists) is One.

“Hear, O Israel!  YHVH is our God, YHVH is one!  Deuteronomy 6:4

Nothing in this temporary life compares to eternal Life in His Kingdom.
