Why and How to Test Translations

Zech 9 9

Why We Need to Test Our Translations:

The above verse is a fulfilled prophesy quoted in Matthew 21:5.  Although it is recognizable, you will notice this small textual variation can make a big difference.

“This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘See, your King comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.” Matthew 21:5

The original Hebrew word, Tzeddiq means:  Righteous, Blameless.

The original Hebrew word Yasha means:  Salvation, Deliverance and Victory.

The original Hebrew word Anav means: Afflicted, Humble, Oppressed, Poor.

Notice all three of the above words are translated into English as Gentle?

How To Test Our Translations To The Original Hebrew:

How blessed is the man who has made Yahovah his trust, And has not turned to the proud nor to those who lapse into falsehood. Psalm 40:4
